Mary "Minnie " Agnes Gracie

GRACIE, Mary Agnes "Minnie" — 90, Sydney. It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Mary "Minnie" Gracie on June 21, 2012, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in L'Ardoise, she was a daughter of the late Mary (Nordin) and Helaire Gracie. Mary worked at Sydney City Hospital, Dietary Department for 35 years. She was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 110 L'Ardoise for 49 years and a member of L'Ardoise Ladies Social Club for 60 years. While living in Sydney, Mary was a member of Club 55, enjoying darts and bowling. She also enjoyed the weekly card games with the ladies from her apartment building. Mary is survived by her sister, Annie (Charlie Stan) Sampson, L'Ardoise; "special grandson", Brad Chivari, Halifax, who played such a special role in her life; nieces, Valerie (Harry), Eleanor; nephews, Gerry (Nancy) and Earl (Brenda); other nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and nieces. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Peter Gracie, who was killed in Italy during the Second World War; sisters, Mary and Emma; brothers, Charlie, Walter and Albert; also nieces, Beverly Chivari and Irene Samspon Thanks to Tony and staff of 3B- Cape Breton Regional Hospital; her caregiver, Carol Calder, and her best friend, Theresa Hashem for being there for her for so many years. Visitation will be held in L'Ardoise Funeral Home on Sunday, June 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m., which will take place in Holy Guardian Angles Church, with Father Mariadoss Lourdusamy officiating.
