John Donald MacDonald – Judique
John Donald passed away peacefully on July 19, 2012 at the Inverness Consolidated Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Judique on December 2, 1927 he was the son of the late Dan Lewis & Mary Jane (MacInnis) MacDonald. He was a man of great faith, always there to help when he could and a friend to many. He will be sadly and fondly remembered as an honest and caring family man, and a teacher in his own right who touched many hearts. Dad had a great sense of humor who loved harness racing, the Boston Bruins and the Conservatives. He loved a good game of cards and always seemed to hold the Ace of Hearts. Affectionately known as Papa or Papa John, he was so very proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dad spent most of his working years at the Pulp Mill, a job that he loved. He was a member of the Judique Volunteer Fire Dept., and was a loyal and faithful fan of the Inverness Raceway.
He is survived by his loving wife Kay (of 59 years), his daughters and son – Annette (Donnie), Donna (Dan), Gillis (Jo-Anne), Beverly (Grant), Debbie (A.J.), 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving- brother Sandy, Judique; sister Sadie of Halifax – predeceased by his son (Cedie) and grandson (Kenzie) – also brother D.R. and sisters Martha, Jessie, Catherine, and Annie.
Visitation will be on Saturday July 21 from 7-9 and Sunday July 22 from 2-4 & 7-9 in the Community Room of the Judique Fire Department . Funeral mass to celebrate John’s life will be held in St. Andrews Parish Church on Monday July 23 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Allan MacMillan officiating.
