Patricia Marie (Mombourquette) Samson – L’Ardosie
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend on Friday May 11, 2012 at the QE II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, surrounded by her family.
``Pata`` was born on July 28, 1944 to Catheline and the late Frankie “I” Mombourquette. She grew up in L’Ardoise and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School. She then went on to attend Mount Saint Bernard College (STFX) in Antigonish.
Pat worked as a secretary for the Richmond Municipal School Board in both L’Ardoise and St. Peters. Pat taught Business Education at SPDH for 10 years then later moved on to work in the family business started by her father, “Frank’s Fuels” ; for 23 years. She also worked for Holy Guardian Angels Parish until illness forced her to retire.
As a firm believer in the power of Good Saint Anne, from the age of 7, Pat made frequent trips to the Shrine in Quebec. She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Parish , L’Ardoise where she served as an eucharistic minister , and a member of the Jolly Club.
She enjoyed searching the Family Geneology, needlepoint, computers , playing bingo, reading and especially decorating for Christmas. A strong willed person in all respects, Pat approached all challenges with determination and dignity, especially in her final battle over the last four and a half months.
Pat is survived by René, her devoted and loving husband of 43 years, her children, Pierre, David (Michelle) and Janelle (Danny) Garon ; her Mother Catheline Mombourquette, sisters Rose (Joe) Cooke, Jeannette (Paul) Parry, Betty Ann (Emile) Boulet,Germaine (Bob) Gargan and brothers Frankie (Florence) and Greg; many nieces and nephews grand nieces and grand nephews and step grandchildren.
Resting in Holy Guardian Angels Funeral Parlor, L’Ardoise Tuesday from 2-4 &6-9 pm and Wednesday from 9-10 am. Funeral Mass will be offered Wednesday at 11:00 am from Holy Guardian Angles Church with Rev. Dennis Lamey presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dr. WB Kingston Community Health Centre, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or charity of choice appreciated.
The family would like to offer sincere thanks to the nurses and doctors at Strait Richmond Hospital and at the QE II, especially Dr. Greg Hirsch and his team along with the nursing staff in CCU and CVICU .
